Daily Reflection — The Mountain of the Lord

by Deacon Michael Bickerstaff | December 14, 2017 12:03 am

“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths” (Isaiah 2:3b).

For the journey to begin, we have to be off… that is, we have to start. Simple? Yes, but so often we simply never begin. We are distracted and diverted, sometimes without even being aware of the delay.

As is so often the case, if we are not deliberate… if we are not intentional about what we want to do, we never truly begin and, therefore, we certainly never finish.

Today, midway through this Second Week of Advent, let us be intentional about preparing for the coming of Our Lord into our hearts. Let us go out to meet Him in the house of God—the Church—so that we can learn from Him and grow in His wisdom.

Let us go up to the mountain of the Lord… where he waits for us.
