“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1)

For generations, the people of Judah and Israel lived in an oppressive spiritual darkness. The time was fast approaching its fullness when God would enter into His creation and the people would see a great light. The Incarnation, followed nine months later by the birth of Jesus to Mary, changed everything!

Surely there have been times in your life when you felt all alone and lost… times when the suffering was so great that you felt like no one cared at all. How difficult it is to live in a world where we are so misunderstood and we have such a hard time understanding others.

Jesus came in history to make all things new—to restore right order. We anticipate His coming again at the Second (and final) Coming. But He is also waiting to come into your life at this moment and in this place, wherever that might be.

God loves you… He is here for you… He knows what you experience because He has shared that experience… You may think that no one cares, but He cares. On that you can be absolutely sure.

There will come a time when we attain Heaven, pray God, when all pain and sorrow will be gone and every tear wiped away. But even now and even here, in the midst of out trial, the Good God consoles, protects and is present to you. Praise Him, give Him thanks, adore Him.

He is my light and my salvation. He is the one for whom my soul awaits…
