Daily Reflection — Out of the Depths

daily-reflection-featured-w740x493

“Out of the depths I cry to thee, O Lord! Lord, hear my voice! Let thy ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications! If thou, O Lord, shouldst mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.” (Psalm 130:1-4).

Lent is a time to start again; to take stock of our life—choosing good and shunning evil, replacing our sinful behaviors with virtuous habits. This is impossible to do on our own. If we are to turn to God, we must involve God in the process. He will be with us every step of the way.

Go to the Lord today and ask him to show you what he sees when he looks at you. And then plead with him for the grace to overcome your failings and allow him to act through you. We all need this grace. We all should be humble enough to cry out to the Lord from the depths of our being. Then go about replacing bad habits with good.

Remember, you are dust, and to dust you will return. Repent and believe in the Gospel.
