“Do not be afraid any longer, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your belongings and give alms. Provide money bags for yourselves that do not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven that no thief can reach nor moth destroy. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” (Luke 12:32-34)

I think that if all who call themselves “Christian” really lived by this passage, or the similar one in Matt. 6: 25-34, we would have an economic catastrophe worse than any of our past recessions or depression, since our present economy seems to be based on a consumer mentality – fear of not having enough, fear of not being on top financially, fear of having to sacrifice our comfort . . . I’m not saying we shouldn’t do it. I’m just saying we should be prepared for the consequences.
