  1. Great question. There have been 33 doctors of the Church, with a 34th announced but not yet finalized (St. John of Avila). Three of the doctors are women, and those women are St. Catherine of Siena, St. Theresa of Avila, and St. Therese of the Child Jesus, aka the Little Flower.
