St. Benedict

Today was the 5th Sunday of Lent. Under the old calendar (1962) this would be the Memorial of St. Benedict, the founder of western monasticism. He died on this day in 547A.D. Even under the old calendar, the 5th Sunday of Lent would take precedence. Under the new calendar, the memorial is now July 11th. There is a short and interesting post on St. Benedict at “Shouts in the Piazza”. Check out their blog… the post can be read here[1].
